Starting eight years ago, the Bourgmont Vineyard team started growing grapes and making wine. In the beginning, it was simply a hobby, which evolved over time into a passion. Two years ago, we began planting on an industrial scale in south Johnson County. Our vineyard now spans over nine acres and consists of 10 different grape varieties. Our goal is to become a Kansas Farm winery and to make the best possible wine here at home.
For fans of white wines, we have planted Riesling, Seyval, Frontenac Gris, and Cayuga. Our reds include Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Crimson Cabernet, and Norton.
In 2017 and 2018, we are experimenting and practicing with our grapes. Most of our vines are young, and we are giving them another year to bolster their flavor with more maturity. In July of 2019, we are planning a grand opening of our winery and tasting facility. That will be located at 20299 Quivira, Bucyrus, Kansas 66013.
